Background
My name is Christos Parliaros and I was born and raised in Athens. My interest in computers started at 1989 when my father bought for me, my first computer, Amiga 500. I also used to have always a video-camera (8mm, VHS, DV) with me, this gave me the opportunity to experiment by watching everything with a different perspective.

In high school I enjoyed learning subjects as maths, science and art. It was clear enough to me, from a very young age, that I had a strong inclination towards filming and special effects. After finishing high school, it came more than natural to me, to further my studies in Athens at the “Hellenic Cinema and Television School Stavrakos” the oldest and most famous in the country where I enrolled and completed successfully my studies in film direction with distiction.
My interesting in computer graphics began at the same period, using 3dsmax at the side of professional animators in a small VFX studio "Alahouzos Bros" in Athens.
As soon as I completed my studies, I participated in the international short film festival of Drama, where I presented my first film “OtherSide” for which I wrote the script and was the director as well. This was the first time in Greece that a student’s film was presented in a professional competition and received the best impressions, with newspaper critics and TV interviews. I have also worked as assistant director in numerous films, commercials. I have participated in script writing seminars and got an honorary distinction for the script of a black comedy “Daddy sleeps in the garden” in the international film festival "Opening nights” in Athens, 2006.
I wanted to get deeper into visual effects so decided to study computer animation at Bournemouth University (NCCA) in the Uk. The Computer Animation and Visualization degree at Bournemouth University ranks among the top of the world. Right after graduation, in 2012, I moved to London where I am currently working as an FX-TD.
My interest about CG has been focusing somewhere between science and art. I am fascinated by working in live action effects. Techniques and technologies relating to physical simulation in computer graphics. I am using an array of softwares but my main tools are Houdini and Maya. Read less
